Under what circumstances can grandparents custody be granted?

Under what circumstances can grandparents custody be granted?

unhappygrammy-In NH it doesn't matter that the grandchild spent every day of his life with his grandparents. DCYF and the courts deny the grandparents custody. They only think of the money the child will bring in by placing the child in a foster strangers home and then adopting the child out to stranger's. They NEVER think of the childs best interests. They would rather traumatize and drug the child just to make money!

Grandparents custody is of utmost importance when it comes to the child’s upbringing. A child must spend significant amount of time with the grandparents. He not only learns from them but he also gets a lot of love, affection and attention from them. Since, in most cases the grandparents are retired, they have the luxury of devoting their entire time to the upbringing of their grandchild.

There are many different scenarios in which grandparents custody can be granted. The first on this list of scenarios would be divorce. In case a couple decides to part ways and both of them have their careers to take care of, then grandparents custody can be granted. The next scenario would be that of death. Due to unfortunate circumstances if the child looses the parents in an accident, then either the maternal or paternal grandparents have the right to ask for grandparents custody.

There are many other scenarios in which grandparents custody can be granted. For instance, if the parents are not responsible enough to take care of the child or either of the parents is suffering from a disease or metal illness, or if the parents are assigned to military duty.

These are just few of the scenarios in which grandparents can get custody of their grandchildren. On the whole the well being of the child is most important and hence the custody has to be given, keeping in mind the best interest of the child.

  1. I have the philosophy that the parents need a good bed, but that the grandkids can sleep almost anywhere. I remember sleeping on a pallet at my grand parents' houses, and I always slept like a rock! Now if I have only one grandchild at a time, we usually sleep together, which adds up to a precious memory or a sleepless night, depending upon the grandchild!
