Boutin emphasizes role of Commission to review child abuse fatalities
Concord, NH - Today, the Commission to review Child Abuse Fatalities met to hear from the Director Lorraine Bartlett and Chief Legal Counsel Byry Kennedy for the Division for Children Youth & Families (DCYF) to learn about the process by which child abuse or neglect is reported and investigated by the state.
“There have been a handful of recent local cases where parents have been found responsible for the death of a child following a period of abuse. This Commission is designed to better understand the course of action by which instances of child abuse or neglect is reported and investigated and how the State of New Hampshire can improve this process to eliminate instances where parental abuse results in the death of a child or infant,” said Senator David Boutin, Chair of the Commission to review child abuse fatalities.
“We have a responsibility to the families and children in the state of New Hampshire to ensure that investigations into a child’s wellbeing are effective and that we are doing everything we can to put a stop to tragic outcomes caused by abuse that we’ve seen in the past.”

The Broken Bond: Stolen Babies Stolen Motherhood Viewed Through a Trauma Perspective
The Broken Bond: Stolen Babies Stolen Motherhood Viewed Through a Trauma Perspective | Apology Alliance Australia:
When the sacred bond between mother and infant is broken it is a traumatic event that inflicts life-long physical and emotional pain (Pearce: 1992; Verrier: 1997). In Australia during most of the 20th century there was a government sanctioned policy of forcibly removing the newborns of unsupported unwed mothers at or soon after birth. This was not only unethical and illegal, but violated their civil and human rights (Sherry: 1992; Harper: 1978; MacDermott: 1984). This article will discuss the past removalist policy and its effects on mothers, their now adult children and other family members, who carry the life-long psychological and emotional scars. It will also examine and discuss the underlying neuro-biological processes of birth and the affects of interfering in its completion.

Surveillance Videos Show Foster Children Abuse in Connecticut
Surveillance Videos Show Foster Children Abuse in Connecticut:
Statistics and studies clearly show that children left in families, even troubled families where “abuse” is alleged, than when they enter the foster care system. (See: Foster Care Children are Worse Off than Children in Troubled Homes – The Child Trafficking Business.) These very disturbing videos of foster care children being abused in Connecticut clearly show how ineffective Child Social Services has become all across America.
It is time to abolish this system, by cutting off the federal funding, and allowing communities to work with troubled families and keeping children with their families.

Sacramento Grandmother Beaten and Flees for Her Life as CPS Takes Grandchildren:
It is a bizarre tale of alleged police brutality and CPS corruption that has ended up with a Sacramento grandmother fleeing the state of California in fear for her very life, while the grandchildren she cared for have been seized by the state, with no apparent evidence of any wrongdoing by the grandmother. All Ann King wanted to do was to love and care for her grandchildren while the parents were unable to, allowing the babies to grow up connected to their own family roots. Apparently, that was too much to ask from Sacramento County CPS, because no one in the family even knows where the children are anymore.
Sounds Familiar in many ways!

A disabled girl is yet to be reunited with her mother, who is the only person who knows how to care for her.

For 14 years she had only been kept alive by the way her intelligent and devoted mother had learnt how to respond to her complex medical, physical and emotional needs.

Mike McClellan asks why we are so shocked that 6,500 reports of child abuse were not investigated (“Why won’t our government think of the children?” AFN, Dec. 6). I am not surprised. I came to Arizona over 20 years ago as a Child Protective Services (CPS) worker. I had been a part of a unit in California in which all of the workers had master’s degrees in social work or family therapy. Most of our cases were families who had come to the attention of the agency but were not severe enough to involve the Juvenile Court. Families voluntarily accepted prevention services. Not surprisingly, we had the lowest per capita foster care placement in the country. Even when our cases were in court, the system — from the judge to the attorneys representing the parents — held as a central principle the best interests of the children.

Grandparents to the rescue
Grandparents to the rescue - Winona Post > Article:
'Kinship care' better than foster care, but not easy
For many grandparents, the joys of grandparenthood center around getting to love a new child, play with them, give them treats, and take pride in their accomplishments without the responsibility of taking them home at night, putting them down to bed, enduring their tantrums and misbehavior, and being the voice of discipline in their lives. Yet, thousands of grandparents in Minnesota and Wisconsin are both grandparent and parent; they are raising or temporarily caring for their grandchildren because the children's parents cannot. It is a labor of love that is full of challenges. A local citizen group hopes to celebrate those grandparents and connect them with help.

The New Child Abuse Panic
The New Child Abuse Panic - The New York Times:
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — FEW things are tougher for a parent than dealing with a child’s serious medical condition, particularly if it is complicated and hard to diagnose. The parent has to make hard choices about treatment, navigating conflicting advice from doctors or even rejecting one doctor’s opinion and seeking another. Recently, the situation of these parents has gotten even harder. Some doctors and hospitals have begun to level a radical new charge — “medical child abuse” — against parents who, they say, get unnecessary or excessive treatment for their kids. That this care is usually ordered by other doctors hasn’t protected parents from these loaded accusations.

Child Protection Employees Rarely Pay Price for Failing to Protect Foster Children from Abuse
Child Protection Employees Rarely Pay Price for Failing to Protect Foster Children from Abuse:
Health Impact News Editor Comments
When it comes to Child Welfare and Child Protection Service (CPS) agencies across the U.S., the public is fed a very one-sided view that justifies these massive federal programs funded by American taxpayers. The view is that there are vast numbers of children being abused in their homes by their families that need rescuing by these CPS agencies. The failures of these agencies to themselves protect the children they take out of homes and put into foster care are brushed aside under the umbrella excuse that they are under-staffed with not enough funding to properly take care of all these supposedly abused children.
The truth, however, is far different than this picture being painted before the public. Studies clearly show that children left in their homes with their parents, even when they are left in troubled homes, are far better off than they would be in foster care away from their family. (See: Foster Care Children are Worse Off than Children in Troubled Homes.) Children in foster care are routinely abused physically and sexually, given psychotic drugs they would not normally be on if they had remained with their families, and far more likely to die before reaching adulthood.

Happy 13th Birthday to Our Special Granddaughter Alejandra, Kept From us by Your Father
Happy Birthday Ally. Though we haven't seen you since you were 3, we still love and miss you and always will.
Your Birthday's and Holidays were always spent with your Mommy, your brother Austin, me and Grampie and your Aunt's and Uncles. All the Happy times gone but never forgotten. We ALL miss you very much and can't imagine how someone could brainwash you and lie to you about the family who always loved you and took care of you. How can anyone be so rotten?
Some day you will realize the way you've been used to hurt your REAL Mommy and her family. You will come to realize the lies and suffering you've been put through.
We hope you have an awesome Birthday and please remember you will never be forgotten and we will always love you.
Until we see you again Ally, we ALL love and miss you.
