Ranch Good Days' not-so-good days: Local foster home for teen girls loses state license, donated funds - TDTNews.com - Temple Daily Telegram

Teenage girls have been removed from foster home Ranch Good Days and the director is no longer licensed to provide care in Texas, a spokeswoman for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services said Tuesday.

  1. That news article was more like gossip than truth. The Ranch is getting much support from people who know the truth so keep a eye out in the future for the truth. The Ranch has made so much difference in so many girls lives. The girls who come to the Ranch get a lot of love.

  2. Well there must have been some truth in it for the Director to have lost the Foster care license.

    1. Evidenced produced shows that the Director asked to end the licensing with the state. Temple Telegram did not retract statement after submission of evidence and several letters to the editor that we never acknowledged. This article was written by a paid staff person, that works closely with a lady who originally offered to sell land for the Girls Ranch but had family pressure to stop the sale. Shame on the Temple Telegram for writing gossip without facts!

  3. She did not lose her license. It was not taken from her.She is in the process of getting the land and told CPS she could not gaurentee the Ranch would be in the same place after June. She does not need a license when there are no girls there at the present time. She can get the license back anytime.

  4. If the home didn't lose it's license, I think someone should be prosecuted for lying.

    1. Temple Telegram should reveal they knew the truth and rethink giving advertisers preferential treatment in what is printed in this paper.

  5. That is why I say watch for the truth. The newspaper is running a investigation on the report. To bad they did not investigate a little more before the report was written.I have been a volunteer at the ranch for almost a year and it is a wonderful place. At 59 years old and a grandmother myself I would not give my time for something that was not right.

  6. As a grandmother, I pray you wouldn't give your time to something that wasn't right. Our children are the most precious gift God has given us.

  7. No I would not and it is a shame when what should have been a report of support was made into yellow journalisim because someone got their panties in a wad.The up side is that those who are friends of the ranch who know all about it are rallying around the ranch stronger than ever before and that incluses several Pastors and community groups.

    1. I can say yes it is. My daughter is going there now. She has only been there a little over a week but I'm confident that she is in good hands. The Director has been very good at keeping me informed of her progress. I miss her like the dickens but I know what I'm doing is what's right for my daughter. She doesn't only work with children in foster care. Mine was brought voluntarily when I could not find a place that would help my daughter longer then a week in my home town. Because she was not a drug attacked or have a eating disorder. It is also a affordable place too, some of the places I looked at were charging $1500 a month for their services. Unfortunately my daughter is a cutter and has problems with depression. The only problem I have with is with my insurance paying her therapy bills. I have tried everything i can think of but we haven't reached a solution yet. The Director has worked with me and is still keeping in touch every day trying to help me come up with a solution. I believe she is a God sent and so is the Ranch.

  9. Ranch Good Days Texas Girls Ranch Academy is an alternative boarding school, not a licensed facility with the state.

  10. There has been abuse here, seen and reported! This "director" has had charges filed from state to state which makes it hard to investigate! The horses are not used as therapy more as a means to make money. She gets donations to pay for this. There are far better places to take your child.

Also of course she's going to report positive things. Don't just leave your child there, be part of the therapy! Abuse happens by her and her daughter, the girls are fearful!
