Retired judges sue state over 'unconstitutional' cut to pensions

Retired judges sue state over 'unconstitutional' cut to pensions | SeacoastOnline.com

Note:CONCORD — Seven retired judges are asking the N.H. Supreme Court to rule that a 2005 change to judicial pension law was unconstitutional because it breached their contracts by decreasing their pensions. The judges are also asking the state's highest court to find that one-time pay increases of 10 percent and 1 percent they received should be included in income calculations used to determine the amounts of their pensions.

The debate is scheduled to be heard as oral arguments before the Supreme Court on Aug. 26. Lamontagne will argue on behalf of the judges and scheduled to speak on the other side of the debate are attorneys for the N.H. Judicial Retirement Plan, the Local Government Center, the Attorney General's office, the Association of Counties and the N.H. School Boards Association.

It's too bad at least one of these retired Judges didn't retire a little sooner, but then if he did, there's another one just as bad as him who would have taken his place all the sooner. Who know's, when the truth comes out, he might lose ALL of his pension. I hope he does!
