Lawsuit: State stiffed troubled children | SeacoastOnline.com
Note:I noticed another NH Children's Home isn't on the list. So does that mean they're being overpaid? $300 a day per child, paid by the state, seem's to be a lot of money to take care of a child. It doesn't cost a BIOLOGICAL parent anywhere near that amount.
Portsmouth's Chase Home for Children and six affiliated homes for abused, neglected and delinquent youths have been underfunded by the state by millions of dollars, forcing one of them to turn to a food pantry to feed children, according to a Superior Court lawsuit.
At the same time the youth homes were underfunded by the state Department of Health and Human Services, DHHS returned unspent money to the state's general fund, according to the lawsuit, filed by attorney Lisa Snow Wade of the Concord law firm, Orr and Reno.

ReplyDeleteA NH Childrens Home gets $300/day PER CHILD? Are you sure? $300/day comes out to $109,200.00 per child yearly! Does this home have a butler, spa, jacuzzi and some personal trainers there by any chance, because I sure couldn't afford to stay there! I just hope the kids are receiving some benefit from those monies.
Well that's a very interesting article. I really wish the article would have answered the following questions:
How much money has NH received in Title IV funding each year for the children into their 'system'?
How much money has NH received in Title IV funds when NH didn't meet the performance eligibility criteria to be able to receive those Title IV funds?
How much money has NH collected each year from social security monies for mentally ill or disabled children in their custody?
How much money has NH sued parents for regarding the placement costs of these children?
Has NH been failing to deduct the social security monies they collected from these mentally ill children from the financial amounts they sue the parents for?
