Baby Emma: John Wyatt Fights for Daughter Given Up for Adoption

Baby Emma: John Wyatt Fights for Daughter Given Up for Adoption - ABC News

John Wyatt never got a chance to hold his daughter. He's never even seen her. All he has are a few pictures.

He hopes that will eventually change.

Wyatt, 21, is embroiled in a multi-state custody dispute after his ex-girlfriend gave their daughter, Emma, up for adoption without his consent.

  1. The fact that something like this can happen is a disgrace. It is so troubling that i think everyone who knows of this story should write the attorney general of Utah and express thier disapprovel of this appalling ruling. The Utah law makes it possible for this type of thing to happen over and over again.

  2. It happens more than you know, and not just in Utah. In Nashua, NH I am aware of three father's whose right's were never terminated to their children. Fictitious men were chosen by DCYF instead. The REAL fathers were never contacted even though DCYF and the Court knew these weren't the father's, which made it easier and faster to adopt the children out illegally. One father came forward and requested a paternity test and filed for custody, challenging the adoption of his daughter and was denied. The children were all illegally adopted.
I'm sure this doesn't just happen in NH.

  3. I pray that the supreme court will make this right in the Wyatt case. And, that state goverments/courts will change laws and/or start getting this right!

  4. Me too. Father's shouldn't be seperated from their children any more than mother's or even grandparent's should be. A child need's their BIOLOGICAL FAMILY, period!
