Grandparent distraught over custody loss - BostonHerald.com
Q: My daughter, S, is drug addicted. Four years ago her daughter, M, was removed from S’s home by the Department of Children and Families. Shortly after that, M came to live with me.
Over the years, S visited M at my home a few times. If S took M out for the day, they’d be back by early afternoon or I’d have to go get M somewhere because S got too stressed or confused.
Recently, without my knowledge, DCF abandoned hope of reunifying M with her mother and changed the service plan to trying to have M adopted. All I know is that one day a DCF worker took M, saying M was going for a visit with S, but then DCF placed M in a foster home.
