DCYF review will include cases of children who died | New Hampshire:
CONCORD — An outside review of the state’s child welfare agency will include the cases of two children who died while the Division of Children, Youth and Families was investigating allegations of abuse, according to a spokesman for Gov. Maggie Hassan.
William Hinkle issued the statement hours after receiving a letter from the attorney representing the estates of 3-year-old Brielle Gage of Nashua and 21-month-old Sadie Willott of Manchester, both of whom died while their neglect and abuse cases were under DCYF review.
Comment: I agree that the cases of these two children should definitely be included in the review. It would also make sense to include the cases of other parent's whose children were never returned, even after Criminal abuse charges (child endangerment) were dropped after their innocence was proven in Criminal Court, yet the Family Court and DCYF refused to drop the charges in Family Court. The children adopted out to stranger's, never to be seen again. Why should these families be denied their children and a Mother facing felony child abuse charges has her children returned before trial? Why are DCYF and the Family Court's allowed to use double standards?

The 1960s and 1970s saw a marked increase in public awareness of child abuse. This led to amendments to the Social Security Act, which expanded the scope of CPS nationwide. In 1974, Congress passed the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act, which provided federal funds to the states for the prevention of physical abuse, neglect and sexual abuse. Then, in 1997, Congress passed the Adoption and Safe Families Act, which established strict timelines for returning children in foster care to their parents or for terminating parental rights, thus freeing the children for adoption. In some cases, states are authorized to dispense with efforts to reunify the family and move directly to termination of parental rights.

There is some confusion as to why stimulant drugs have a calmingeffect on children. Therefore, it was postulated that children with ADHD have some sort of deficiency that stimulants fill. This is a false notion, as the effects of ADHD drugs are the same in all people, whether they have ADHD or not. When scientists experimented on lab animals, by giving them stimulants, they observed a universal adverse response. This reaction, which we will elaborate on below, occurs in humans to the same degree.
Comment: I saw first hand what Adderal for ADHD did to my grandson, forced on him by NH DCYF. He was like a zombie and couldn't remember some of his family members. He was given an order by the visitation worker and just stood there, totally baffled at what she told him to do. It was so sad to see a once very energetic, lively little boy turned into the zombie he now was. I sure hope he is no longer taking that garbage!

A state commission has given the green light to an interim plan that will provide around-the-clock coverage at the state Division of Children, Youth and Families.
My comment: Tsaros is right. 24/7 staffing won't make children more safe. It sure wouldn't have kept Brielle safe. The only thing that would have kept her safe was to not return her to her Mother while criminal child abuse charges were pending. What does 24/7 staffing have to do with these cases? Nothing! All you're doing is giving DCYF even more unbridled power. Our Govt. already gave them free rein to do whatever they want(as stated by a former Nashua caseworker).
"Five years ago, the average worker received 12 reports a month," Five years ago you didn't have all these mandated reporter's calling in frivolous and many times false report's against innocent parents.
Rep. Joseph Guthrie of Hampstead. "We all recognize that yes, it’s New Hampshire, but we do have to spend money. I’m a pretty conservative Republican but I can’t see how anybody can justify not funding this kind of an operation for children.” Don't worry Rep. Guthrie, all of the children taken by DCYF are worth their weight in gold. The Federal Govt. pay's the States plenty of incentive money for every child they take and then adopt out. Don't worry, Title IV funding will pay.
