A former Child-Protective Specialist at the Administration for Children’s Services was convicted last week of fabricating a visit to the home of a troubled child, according to the Department of Investigation. Police arrested Mimi Allen Sept. 8 for logging the fictitious check-in the same July 2013 day the mother of the child was in the hospital giving birth.

Hartford, CT - On Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at 10:00 am, the Connecticut Supreme Court will hear argument in Wendy V. v. Luis Santiago, a certified public interest appeal that will address the question of whether trial courts possess the authority under state statutes to deny applications for family violence restraining orders without holding a hearing. The case will be argued by Attorney Linda Allard of Greater Hartford Legal Aid (GHLA).

Yet, thousands of grandparents in Minnesota and Wisconsin are both grandparent and parent; they are raising or temporarily caring for their grandchildren because the children's parents cannot. It is a labor of love that is full of challenges. A local citizen group hopes to celebrate those grandparents and connect them with help.
