The Department of Children and Families is now understood to be conducting an investigation into the incident. A source from within the department said the three teens were all under the care of the NT child protection system in Darwin.

The film is called Innocence Destroyed. Bill Bowen died unexpectedly the next year, in 2010, reportedly from a heart attack, before he was able to finish the film.
