It is simply unthinkable that a 2-year-old girl in Prince George’s County who was taken from her mother’s custody was beaten to death while in the care of a foster family. Not only must there be a thorough review by county and state authorities, but it’s important that circumstances of the case — including a determination of whether the tragedy could have been prevented — be made public.

Regional Youth and Foster Care Agencies Develop Siblings Bill of Rights - Free Press Online - Rockland, ME:

The New England Youth Coalition (NEYC), representing youth in foster care, has joined with the New England Association of Child Welfare Commissioners and Directors (NEACWCD) to create a regional Siblings Bill of Rights, intended to preserve sibling relationships between children under the care of New England child welfare agencies. Maine held its bill signing on June 19 at the University of Maine during its annual conference for teens in foster care. Maine's Youth Leadership Advisory Team (YLAT), made up of youth currently in state care, participated in the bill's development.
