Dickinson wants disclosure on revoked foster care licenses
A Sacramento lawmaker is hoping to close a legal loophole that allowed a Sacramento middle school teacher to remain in the classroom three years after the state revoked his foster care license following allegations of child sexual abuse.
Journal story shows harm of foster care
On Jan. 22, the Rapid City Journal told the stories of four children taken from their parents, only to be moved from foster home to foster home, ill treated in foster care, and then kicked out as young adults unprepared to survive on their own (“Empty promises and a broken system,” Jan. 22 Journal).
Two of the children said “the experience was painful, enough that they will avoid the foster system at all costs.”
