One Nashua Hospital's Discriminatory Practices
The same Hospital that discriminated against the victim, who was attacked and beaten in Nashua in the post http://unhappygrammy-grandparentsblog.blogspot.com/2012/02/nashua-hospital-insults-nashua-victim.html , is still discriminating against patient's.
I received a message from a young woman this morning who was treated at one of the Nashua Hospitals yesterday for severe pain in the bottom right side of her abdomen. She said she felt pressure, like something had exploded.
After spending several hours in the hospital where blood test's and a Catscan were performed to rule out kidney stones, she was sent home without a diagnosis, still in severe pain. She was told the cause could also be gall stones, which only an Ultrasound would show, but wasn't given one.
After sleeping for a few hours, she awoke still in severe pain. Instead of going back to the same hospital, because she was told there was nothing more they could do, she went to the hospital where the victim of the attack had been taken. The hospital where she and family member's had been discriminated against in the past, like so many other's, in hopes they would help her. Hoping they no longer treated their patient's discriminatory. But of course they did.
She was brought into an exam room and told them she had been to the other hospital earlier, where a Catscan and blood test's were performed. She told them kidney stones were ruled out. She heard the Doctor and Nurses talking about her in the hall. Doctor DeBell came in just as she had fallen. He told her she looked disgusting laying on the floor. He told her she was a drama queen and that he had gone over her result's from the other hospital and that he was not giving her any pain medication. She told him she wasn't there for pain meds. All she wanted was for them to find out what was wrong. She told him, "Cut me open and fix whatever exploded." He told her she was only there looking for pill's. That there was nothing wrong with her. There was no examination. He told her to leave and told her when whatever it is explodes, to come back and then they would see her.
What if her appendix was ready to burst or something worse? A family member was told by this same hospital when she kept going to the Emergency room for the same pain that she was a liar and was only looking for pain meds. After six month's of being called a liar, she was rushed to the Emergency room one night. Still being called a liar. She was finally treated by a Doctor who checked her appendix. He found it was ready to explode and she was rushed in for surgery. The appendix was gang-green, because they waited so long to treat her, never believing there was anything wrong. If she hadn't gone in that night, she would have died.
This Hospital has no business discriminating against anyone. Their job is to help the patients who come in to their hospital. Not make things worse. Does the Doctor's oath no longer mean anything? It is not for them to judge anyone. Not treat people like dirt. This hospital will never learn. I'm surprised they aren't shut down yet. More people need to come forward and file complaints and lawsuits for their discriminatory practices.
