There are thousands of children in Bexar County in critical need of foster homes.Last year, The Children’s Shelter was unable to place 2,700 children in a foster care program due to a lack of licensed foster care families. In fact, 68 percent of those children, who need a temporary home due to abuse, abandonment or neglect, were between the ages of five and older, according to the local shelter.
