Jones story is truly horrifying. She was beaten, starved, and abandoned by her caretakers and her health was neglected to a degree she should have not survived. Jones wants her readers to know that many children do, in fact, die in foster care, because of poor treatment by the people in the homes they are placed in, and many children suffer extreme abuse at the hands of those who are trusted to take care of them.
